Margaret & Dave

Dave spent the first 18 years of his life travelling throughout the UK and also to Malaysia with his parents (his father was in the Army).

After leaving school he spent 3 years in Newcastle upon Tyne before moving with the family to Malaysia. Whilst in Newcastle he became a tailor (Tyne Clothiers) and was also a band boy in the 6th City Battalion, Royal Northumberland Fusiliers (Territorial Army).

After spending 7 months in Malaysia he joined the Royal Engineers at the age of 18 and spent the next 22 years travelling the world, eventually retiring as a WO1 (Warrant Officer Class 1) during 1984.

Margaret lived in Chester until she and Dave married during 1965. She then joined Dave in Germany and accompanied him on all his postings, including Cyprus and the Far East.

After Dave left the Army they settled in Chester and Dave was a Principal Officer (EPO) with Wirral Borough Council and Margaret worked at Sainsburys until they both retired during 2006.
